Spiro-Spectrum General Properties 

The spirometry studies are indispensable for diagnostics and course control of such pathologies as bronchial asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease. Besides, the spirometry can be rather informative during the checkup of patients suffering from other respiratory diseases. All these pathologies are referred to the most wide-spread ones, and their timely diagnostics is of great importance.

The digital spirometer Spiro-Spectrum is intended for the diagnostics of the pulmonary ventilation capacity disorders. It gives an opportunity to execute the following tests:

  • quiet breathing/vital capacity
  • forced expiration
  • maximum pulmonary ventilation capability
  • drug tests

The spirometer allows performing the diagnostic examinations of both adults and children. The device and its software are developed according to Russian Federation Health Ministry and American Thoracic Society (ATS) recommendations.

High Accuracy of Lung Volumes and Air Flow Rates Measurement

The high accuracy of the lung volumes and the air flow rates measurement is provided by the application of high-quality sensors and electronic components in the spirometer construction, the individual calibration of each device on a special stand, the use of built-in temperature, atmosphere pressure and humidity sensors data to correct the measured flow and volume values automatically (bringing to BTPS standard) and the utilization of 3-liter calibration pump.

 

Demountable Construction of Flow Converter

The construction of the flow converter simplifies cleaning and disinfection of spirometer components contacting to a patient's mucous membranes and airflow.

The device delivery set includes such number of the replaceable flow converters, which is quite enough for the performing of the checkups during a day without any breaks for the spirometer components disinfection. Besides, the device is supplied with the set of spare parts for the flow converters, which guarantee the long-term device operation without any additional purchases. If necessary, you can use the disposable or reusable mouthpieces with 30 mm internal diameter produced by any manufacturer.

 

Animation during Children Checkup

On-line animation simplifies the work with children by performing the checkup as a game.

Automatic Report Generation with Indication of Disorder Type and Level of Its Intensity

The software provides two algorithms of report generation, they are by Kuznetzova (1999) and Koltzune, Kuznetzova (1989).

Automatic Control of Reproducibility and Quality of Breathing Maneuver Performing

The software displays the messages concerning the mistakes made during inhalation and exhalation performing, and if necessary, it recommends to execute them once again.

 

Support of Several Systems of Due Values, Possibility to Specify Personal Formulas of Values Calculation

The software supports operation with formulas of due values by Clement and others (1984), Clement and Zilber (1994), Knudson, by ECCS and ITS standards; as well as enables to specify your own formulas.

Quiet Breathing


The main measured parameter is vital capacity (VC). Moreover, inspiratory reserve volume (IRV) is also measured. Except spirograms real-time displaying is provided in all types of tests.

Inhalation Tests


The software has an opportunity for inhalation test report generation providing necessary comparison of received parameters with the convenient presentation of data. Software also automatically determines whether the test result was positive or negative.

Forced Expiration


This is the most important type of test in point of diagnostics. More than 25 parameters of pulmonary ventilation capability are calculated (FVC, FEV1, PEF, MEF25%, MEF50%, MEF75%, etc.). The parameters are fundamental for medical report generation.

Maximum Pulmonary Breathing Capacity


During the test a patient breathes extremely deeply and frequently through the unit for a short time. Breathing frequency (BF) and minute ventilation (MVV) are calculated.

Express-Test


The specific variant of forced expiration test intended for mass checkups carrying out. Program operation allows saving time during checkup without information loss.

Checkup Report


The report includes patient information, graphic data, tables with measured parameters values and medical norms and also automatic interpretation text.
